“A private eye. A public murder. A perfect crime.”

Carson Philips (John Travolta) is a washed-up private investigator whose best years are behind him. His old flame Jayne Hunt (Famke Janssen) hires him to look into a murder, and the case seems routine at first. George Gallo and Francesco Cinquemani follow Carson as one body leads to another, and every suspect he questions widens the web of crimes that could end up pulling him in.
