“Lust, drugs and violence... no place for a kid.”

Agnes (Jennifer Lawrence) is fourteen and wants to keep her two younger sisters, Cammie (Chloë Grace Moretz) and Bee (Sophi Bairley), out of the way of everything that goes through their mother's house. The place is full of gamblers, thieves and johns, and Sarah (Selma Blair) is the one who runs it. Lori Petty, drawing on her own 1970s childhood, follows one day in which the three girls hold on to each other.
