The Possessors

Noël Schoudler (Jean Gabin) wants his name to outlast him, and he has built the means: a sugar business, a bank and a newspaper, all answering to him alone. Denys de La Patellière, adapting Maurice Druon's Goncourt-winning novel, sets the old tycoon at the head of his own table, with his wife Adèle (Annie Ducaux) and his son François (Jean Desailly) beneath him. François is about to challenge that authority, and the whole empire is in the balance.
