The Poughkeepsie Tapes

“The terror is real.”

Hundreds of videotapes turn up in an abandoned house in Poughkeepsie, New York, and what's on them is torture, murder and dismemberment, a decade of it. John Erick Dowdle builds the film from interviews with detectives and agents who have watched the tapes, cut against the killer's own footage. Cheryl Dempsey (Stacy Chbosky) is the woman he keeps coming back to, and the camera stays on what passes between them.
