The Power of the Dog

Phil Burbank (Benedict Cumberbatch) rules his Montana ranch with quiet cruelty, mocking his brother's new wife Rose (Kirsten Dunst) and her son Peter (Kodi Smit-McPhee) until his contempt begins to shift. Campion lets the tension build through small gestures and withheld glances, each character watching for what Phil actually wants. By the end, the bond between Phil and Peter has rewritten everything we thought we understood about them both.
