The Preacher's Wife

“They needed help. What they got was a miracle.”

Reverend Henry Biggs (Courtney B. Vance) wants to keep his church standing and the neighborhood around it fed, and he is so busy doing both that his marriage to the choir mistress Julia (Whitney Houston) has gone quiet. Joe Hamilton, a property developer, is closing in on the building, so Henry prays for help and gets an angel named Dudley (Denzel Washington). Penny Marshall sets it all at Christmas, with Julia at the choir loft, singing.
