The President's Cake
Lamia (Baneen Ahmed Nayyef), nine years old in 1990s Iraq, has been picked at school to bake the cake for the President's birthday, and there are no eggs, flour or sugar to be had. Hasan Hadi sends her through the big city with her grandmother, her friend Saeed (Sajad Mohamad Qasem) and a pet rooster named Hindi, past vendors and police officers. Lamia can't say no to the cake, so she keeps walking, carrying a job far too big for her.
