The Pride and the Passion

“You have never seen its like -- and may never see its equal!”

Anthony (Cary Grant) is a British naval officer sent into occupied Spain during the Napoleonic Wars, with orders to see a huge cannon delivered to the army fighting the French. The gun belongs to a band of Spanish guerrillas led by Miguel (Frank Sinatra), and Anthony ends up traveling beside Juana (Sophia Loren). Stanley Kramer shoots the march in Technicolor, the cannon black and enormous, hauled over open country by men and oxen.
