The Priest and the Girl
“No one can stop those two, that dark love in white lace.”
In a small town in the mountains of Minas Gerais, a young priest (Paulo José) arrives to take a parish where everyone knows everyone and the old habits hold. He notices Mariana (Helena Ignez), a beautiful girl in town, and the attraction is sudden and he cannot set it aside. Joaquim Pedro de Andrade, in his first feature, adapts the poem by Carlos Drummond de Andrade and shoots it on location around São Gonçalo dos Rios das Pedras.
