The Priest's Children

Don Fabijan (Krešimir Mikić) is a young priest sent to a small, unnamed island in the Adriatic, where the births have dropped and the village is getting older. His fix is to pierce the condoms before they reach the shelves, and he brings in Petar (Nikša Butijer), the newsagent, and Marin, the pharmacist, to help him do it. Vinko Brešan plays the whole scheme deadpan, with the plain faces of people who believe they are doing the island a favor.
