The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie

(1969)Directed by Ronald Neame116 min · PGDrama
“In the surprising world of Jean Brodie, there were two men and four girls.”

Jean Brodie (Maggie Smith) teaches at a private girls' school in 1930s Edinburgh, and she spends her lessons on love, art and her own romantic notions instead of the set curriculum. Ronald Neame follows the small circle of twelve-year-olds she picks out as her favorites, Sandy (Pamela Franklin) among them. The headmistress, Miss Mackay (Celia Johnson), is waiting for a reason to remove her, and Jean's hold on the girls is all she has.
