A woman named Gabrielle Valladon (Geneviève Page) turns up after an attempt on her life, asking him to find her missing husband, and he takes it eagerly. Billy Wilder follows the search to Loch Ness, where Dr. Watson (Colin Blakely) writes it down while Holmes quietly resents the man he becomes on the page.
