“He ordered a martini... kissed a girl... and was plunged into a nightmare of danger!”

The physicist's identity is in question. Andrew Craig (Paul Newman), a drinking, womanizing novelist who now writes pulp detective stories for money, arrives in Stockholm for the Nobel ceremonies and decides that Dr. Max Stratman (Edward G. Robinson) is not the man he claims to be. Mark Robson runs it like one of Craig's paperbacks, a Cold War kidnapping plot with a Jerry Goldsmith score underneath.
