The Producers
“They had everything to gain by not being a success!”
Max Bialystock (Nathan Lane) is a Broadway producer who woos wealthy old women for their checkbooks and has not had a hit in years. Then his meek accountant, Leo Bloom (Matthew Broderick), mentions that a flop could earn more than a success, and Max sets out to stage the worst show ever written, a musical about Adolf Hitler. Susan Stroman, who directed the stage version, films it the way it was built for the theater.
