The Promise

“Empires fall. Love survives.”

Mikael Boghosian (Oscar Isaac) is a young Armenian man studying medicine, with plans to bring what he learns back to his village. In Constantinople he falls for Ana Khesarian (Charlotte Le Bon), an artist raised in France, who is already bound to the American journalist Chris Myers (Christian Bale). Terry George sets the triangle in the last years of the Ottoman Empire, and Mikael has to hold his feelings in check while the world around him starts to break.
