The Promised Land

“A captain’s ambition, a ruthless rival, and a land that defies them both.”

Captain Ludvig Kahlen (Mads Mikkelsen) wants a title, and in Denmark in 1755 he can have one if he turns the heath into farmland. Everyone says the ground won't grow anything, and the region's ruthless lord, Frederik de Schinkel (Simon Bennebjerg), intends to make sure of it. Nikolaj Arcel follows Kahlen out onto that empty land, where the man keeps working and the cost of his ambition begins to show.
