A lawman in 1880s Australia gives Charlie Burns (Guy Pearce) one chance to save his younger brother from hanging: ride into the Outback and kill his older brother Arthur (Danny Huston), who is wanted for rape and murder. John Hillcoat shot the film in Winton, Queensland, from a script by Nick Cave. Between the brothers and the captain who set it in motion, Captain Stanley (Ray Winstone) is the only one who seems to believe in a bargain.
