The Purple Sea

Angela (Valeria Solarino) grows up in a 19th century Italian village, stubborn and hard to rein in, and in love with her childhood best friend Sara (Isabella Ragonese). Donatella Maiorca, adapting a true story, sets the pair against a father, a church and a whole community that have their own ideas about what a woman may be. The love is not the problem here. The problem is a village that has no place to put it.
