The Quarry

“Guilt is a heavy burden.”

A drifter (Shea Whigham) on the run from his own sins reaches a small Texas border town and takes the place of a reverend he has no right to be. His sermons are strange and unpolished, and the townspeople start coming to hear them, though Chief Moore (Michael Shannon) is watching and doesn't believe any of it. Scott Teems directs it as a slow tightening, adapting Damon Galgut's 1995 novel with the dread kept close to the faces.
