The Quick and the Dead

“Think you're quick enough?”

Ellen (Sharon Stone) rides into the frontier town of Redemption alone, a woman who gives no reason for coming and enters the quick-draw tournament anyway. John Herod (Gene Hackman) owns the town and holds the contest each year, and Sam Raimi frames the duels with whip-pans and hard sunlight. Every round is a fight to the death, and only one gunfighter is left standing.
