The Quiet

“Isn't it time everyone hears your secrets?”

Dot (Camilla Belle) just wants to get through a new school and a new house after her father's death, and being deaf and silent, she mostly goes unnoticed. She moves in with her godparents, Olivia (Edie Falco) and Paul Deer (Martin Donovan), where their daughter Nina (Elisha Cuthbert) treats her coldly but still tells her secrets, including that she wants her father dead. Jamie Babbit keeps the camera close to the Deers' quiet house and lets the dread build there.
