The Rabbi's Cat

After the cat (François Morel) swallows the family parrot, he starts to talk, and the first thing he does with the gift is lie. He lives in 1920s Algeria with a rabbi (Maurice Bénichou) and the rabbi's teenage daughter Zlabya (Hafsia Herzi), whom the cat loves far from purely. Sfar and Delesvaux, adapting Sfar's own comics, draw the whole thing in loose, inky lines that look as if they were sketched at the kitchen table.
