The Rack
“Paul Newman, a wonderful new star!”
Captain Edward Hall, Jr. (Paul Newman) comes home from two years in a Korean prison camp, and the Army charges him with collaboration. In the camp he was broken down, and he helped the Chinese persuade other prisoners that the war was unjust. Arnold Laven puts Hall before a court-martial, where his father, a colonel (Walter Pidgeon), sits close by, and the question is how far loyalty can be asked to reach inside a place like that.
