The Railway Children

(1970)Directed by Lionel Jeffries109 min · GDrama, Family
“The railway, the children... and the wonderful secret they'll share with you!”

One evening at the start of the twentieth century, men arrive at the Waterbury house and take the father away, accused of betraying state secrets. Mrs. Waterbury (Dinah Sheridan) moves her three children to a cottage in Yorkshire, where Bobbie (Jenny Agutter), Phyllis and Peter find the railway line. Lionel Jeffries's film holds to a plain idea: a family with little money and a missing father can still get through on small kindnesses.
