In the waning days of the Victorian era, Ursula Brangwen (Sammi Davis) grows up the daughter of a rich landowner, imaginative and restless in her prim surroundings. Ken Russell adapts D. H. Lawrence's novel, following her through an erotic awakening with a schoolteacher, Winifred (Amanda Donohoe), and the pursuit of fulfillment it sets off. What she wants from desire, and what it costs her to chase it, is the question the story keeps returning to.
