The Rainmaker

“They were totally unqualified to try the case of a lifetime... but every underdog has his day.”

Rudy Baylor (Matt Damon) has just finished law school and has no job, no clients, and bills coming due. He takes on a case against a powerful insurance company that refused to pay for a dying boy's treatment, with help from Deck Shifflet (Danny DeVito), a paralegal who never passed the bar. Francis Ford Coppola puts Rudy up against Leo F. Drummond (Jon Voight), whose courtroom contest turns on whether Rudy can stand in the same room as him.
