“Her romance is on pins and noodles.”

Why does a stranded American woman walk into a Tokyo ramen shop and decide to stay? Abby (Brittany Murphy) has followed her boyfriend to Japan, and he leaves her there with no plan and no Japanese. Robert Allan Ackerman puts her in the kitchen of the gruff master Maezumi (Toshiyuki Nishida), who will not hand her a ladle, and Abby stays on and scrubs the floors anyway.
