The Realm of Fortune

In a poor Mexican town, Dionisio Pinzón (Ernesto Gómez Cruz) is handed a stroke of luck he never expected, and he takes it for a fortune that will last. Arturo Ripstein adapts Juan Rulfo's short novel El gallo de oro, and La Caponera (Blanca Guerra) is the woman whose fortunes become tied to his. Everything that rises has to come down, and in a place with so little in it, a man can die quietly and no one much notices.
