The Reluctant Debutante

“MGM presents the Comedy-Romance in luscious COLOR!”

Jane Broadbent (Sandra Dee), an American teenager, comes to London to visit her father and finds herself set up for the last Debutante Season, whether she wants it or not. Her father Jimmy (Rex Harrison) and his wife Sheila (Kay Kendall) go along with it, though Jimmy is plainly not built for the ballroom circuit. Vincente Minnelli keeps the focus on the Broadbents as Jimmy and Sheila's marriage gets as much attention as any of Jane's prospective dances.
