“Half woman - half snake!”

Harry Spalding (Ray Barrett) and his wife Valerie (Jennifer Daniel) move into a cottage in a remote Cornish village, where the locals keep their doors shut and their eyes down. Harry's brother has just died there, the body swollen and black from a bite no one will explain. John Gilling lets the Spaldings pull at that silence until it leads to Anna (Jacqueline Pearce), and a bond forms with her that the couple cannot afford.
