The Pink Panther diamond has been stolen again, and Inspector Clouseau (Peter Sellers) is certain the thief is the Phantom, a jewel robber who supposedly retired. Blake Edwards sends him after the case with only his own bad instincts and a manservant who keeps attacking him. Chief Inspector Dreyfus (Herbert Lom) has to watch him work, and every new mess Clouseau makes sends Dreyfus a little further toward breaking.
