The Rising of the Moon

(1957)Directed by John Ford81 minComedy, Drama
“Actually filmed in the Emerald Isle!”

Dan O'Flaherty (Noel Purcell) is an old countryman who holds to the old ways, and when he knocks a man down, he expects to answer for it the proper way. Inspector Michael Dillon (Cyril Cusack) has to arrest him, while a village that likes them both looks on. Ford, working from three Irish stories, steps back and lets the people in the frame carry the story, with Tyrone Power introducing each tale.
