The Rite
A play has been accused of obscenity, and nobody outside the troupe seems to know what in it is supposed to be so offensive. Three actors, Thea (Ingrid Thulin), Sebastian (Anders Ek) and Hans (Gunnar Björnstrand), are called to the office of Judge Abrahamson (Erik Hell) and questioned one by one and then together. Ingmar Bergman, who made this for Swedish television, uses the interrogation to ask how much of a performer's private life can be demanded by the law.
