The River and Death

(1954)Directed by Luis Buñuel91 minDrama

Two families in a Mexican village have been killing each other for generations, and only one son is left on each side. Gerardo Anguiano (Joaquín Cordero) went to the city and became a doctor, while Romulo Menchaca (Jaime Fernández) stayed behind, waiting for him to come home so the feud can be settled. Luis Buñuel keeps Mercedes (Columba Domínguez) between the two men, tied to Gerardo by blood and to Romulo by the same village.
