The River Wild

“The vacation is over.”

Gail Hartman (Meryl Streep) wants her marriage to Tom (David Strathairn) to hold together, and a white-water rafting trip in Montana for their son Roarke's tenth birthday is her best idea. Two men, Wade (Kevin Bacon) and Terry (John C. Reilly), join them on the water, and their easy friendliness thins as their desperation shows. Curtis Hanson puts Gail at the front of the raft, a mother who knows the river better than anyone aboard.
