The Road

“The story of three families' search for freedom.”

Seyit Ali (Tarık Akan) is one of five Kurdish prisoners in Turkey released on a single week's leave to go home. Outside the walls, each man meets the weight of his family, his village's customs and the state's watchfulness, and the freedom he was promised feels smaller than he imagined. Yılmaz Güney wrote it from inside a prison cell, and every day of the week is already running out.
