The Roads Not Taken

Molly (Elle Fanning) wants to get her father through a single day in New York, with an eye exam, a dentist and a lot of waiting in between. Leo (Javier Bardem) is drifting somewhere else, and Sally Potter follows the two of them for twenty-four hours as the ordinary errands begin to feel hallucinatory. Molly keeps hold of his arm on the crowded sidewalk, steering him forward through the city.
