The Roaring Twenties

(1939)Directed by Raoul Walsh104 minCrime, Drama, Thriller
“The land of the free gone wild! The heyday of the hotcha! The shock-crammed days G-men took ten whole years to lick!”

Eddie Bartlett (James Cagney) comes home from the war in 1919 to find no job waiting, so he drives a cab. Delivering bootleg liquor turns that one cab into a fleet, with Lloyd Hart (Jeffrey Lynn) as his lawyer and George Hally (Humphrey Bogart) as his partner. Raoul Walsh runs the story from 1919 to 1933, using newsreel-style narration to mark the Prohibition years.
