The Roses

“This marriage ain't big enough for the both of them.”

Ivy (Olivia Colman) and Theo (Benedict Cumberbatch) have the marriage other couples point to, with steady careers, good kids and a house that looks the part. Then Theo's work starts to collapse just as Ivy's takes off, and the resentment they've been politely stepping around gets harder to ignore. Jay Roach, working from a Tony McNamara script, plays the whole thing as a black comedy and keeps the jokes close to the hurt.
