“It is the year 2019. "The Running Man" is a deadly game no one has ever survived. But... Schwarzenegger has yet to play.”

Nobody on the street can say why Ben Richards (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is wanted, only that the broadcasts keep naming him. In a police state set in 2017, he is dropped into The Running Man, a game show hosted by Damon Killian (Richard Dawson), where convicts flee armed stalkers like Fireball (Jim Brown) for a chance at a pardon. Paul Michael Glaser keeps the cameras on, and one mistake means a televised death.
