The Russia House

“Their love was as dangerous as the secrets they kept.”

Barley Scott Blair (Sean Connery) is a Lisbon publisher of Russian literature, a man who drinks a little and works a little and has stopped expecting much of either. British intelligence sends him to look into Dante, a dissident scientist stuck in a Soviet Union coming apart under the new openness. Fred Schepisi shot much of it on location in Russia, and Barley goes in with Katya (Michelle Pfeiffer) at his side, a man who never planned to be anyone's spy.
