The Sandwich Man
Kun-shu (Chen Bo-zheng) is the title character, a man hired to walk Taiwan's streets as a living advertisement, a sandwich board hanging on his shoulders. His story is one of three in a film adapted from Huang Chun-ming's short stories, directed by Hou Hsiao-hsien, Wan Jen and Tsang Jong-cheung. Together they show Taiwan in the Cold War years, getting richer with American help, and what that cost the people living in it.
