The Sapphires
“Follow your heart. Discover your soul.”
Gail (Deborah Mailman) sings with her two sisters and their cousin in a small Aboriginal community in Australia, and in 1968 the four of them catch the eye of Dave Lovelace (Chris O'Dowd), an Irish talent scout with a drinking habit. He hears soul in their harmonies that country music was never going to use, and he signs them up to entertain American troops in Vietnam. Wayne Blair keeps the camera close on the four of them, whether they are harmonizing or arguing.
