The Savages

“There's a moment in everyone's life when childhood ends and adulthood begins. For Jon and Wendy Savage, that moment is now.”

A phone call pulls Wendy Savage (Laura Linney) and her brother Jon (Philip Seymour Hoffman) back toward Lenny (Philip Bosco), the father they barely speak to, whose health is failing. Neither has the money, the patience, or the spare room, and Tamara Jenkins lets the two of them bicker their way through the arrangements. Looking after a parent turns out to be paperwork and forms long before it is love.
