The Sea of Trees

“Love will bring you home.”

Arthur Brennan (Matthew McConaughey) walks into Aokigahara Forest in Japan, a teacher who has come there alone and means to stay. He is stopped by Takumi Nakamura (Ken Watanabe), a stranger who is lost among the trees and needs help finding his way out. Gus Van Sant follows the two men through the woods and back through Arthur's marriage to Joan (Naomi Watts), a story about whether grief can be carried by someone else.
