“Jack London's great novel of terror afloat.”

'Wolf' Larsen (Edward G. Robinson) is the captain of a sealing ship, a man who runs his crew by fear and answers to no one. Fugitives pulled from a shipwreck, among them Ruth Webster (Ida Lupino) and George Leach (John Garfield), find themselves aboard his vessel with no way off. Michael Curtiz keeps the camera close to the cramped decks and lets the captain's mind come apart in front of them.
