Ships keep going down after leaving Goa, and British intelligence traces it to a German spy feeding their positions from the neutral harbor. A strike on Portuguese soil is out of the question, so Col. Lewis Pugh (Gregory Peck) and Capt. Gavin Stewart (Roger Moore) recruit veterans of the Great War, old men whose age makes them look harmless. Andrew V. McLaglen sets David Niven and Trevor Howard among them, gray-haired volunteers waiting for the order to board.
