The Seashell and the Clergyman

A clergyman (Alex Allin) is pulled toward the wife of a general, and the pull follows him into visions of death and lust that he cannot shake. The Officer (Lucien Bataille) stands in his way, and the Woman (Genica Athanasiou) keeps drifting out of reach. Germaine Dulac builds the film from Antonin Artaud's scenario, and the clergyman fights his own desire with his faith and his sanity both at risk.
