The Second Mother

Val (Regina Casé) has spent thirteen years in São Paulo as the nanny of Fabinho (Michel Joelsas), a job that pays well and keeps her from raising her own daughter. Then Jéssica (Camila Márdila), who grew up with relatives in Pernambuco, arrives for a visit, ready to give her mother a second chance. Anna Muylaert uses the rules of one household, who sits where and who is served, to show how class gets passed down in ordinary habits.
