The Secret of Convict Lake

Jim Canfield (Glenn Ford) is an innocent man sent to prison on false pretenses, and when a group of convicts breaks out, he goes with them. They take shelter at an isolated farming settlement where the men are away, leaving the women to deal with the strangers, among them Marcia Stoddard (Gene Tierney). Michael Gordon keeps the story in the cold Sierra Nevada wilderness and lets the suspicion between the two groups wind tighter.
